Welcome To ChrisCervantez.com!
Monday, October 29, 2007 WWE Wrestling = Crap!! Well it's been another long, long period of time and no see. I'll give you an update on me probably tomorrow or tonight if I feel like it...but I just wanted to say that I HATE WWE WRESTLING! Sure, the guys train hard and there is a lot involved in it, but I can't stand it! I would rather go on Fear Factor (by the way is that show still on?) and eat all the stuff they have to, than watch a minute of wrestling. My roommate's home and watching it...and I kind of wish Laura would have somehow messed with the TiVO so it wouldn't record. My roommate is one of those loyal people...has to buy every single wrestling DVD. I guess wrestling is more like a soap opera. By the way...why don't they release other sporting events on DVD? One good thing about tonight...the volume isn't cranked up so loud like it normally is. I can't hear it with my door shut. :-) -Chris Posted at 9:34 PM Monday, March 5, 2007 Long Time...No See It's been a long, long time since I've updated this blog, but I've been pretty busy lately! I'm still working toward my degree in Web Technology and that's going pretty well. I can't wait until I have everything finished, although in my field of study, I will never be "finshed" as there is always new technologies to learn. I've been working hard at Target and I'm still working at Independence Media. Catch me on Mix 101.1 on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. central time! Not too much to say now. It's been a long day and I'm tired. I'll try to update this again later this week. Oh...if you want to leave me a voicemail, you can now do it! 309-740-7322 or if you feel like calling my Tampa, Florida number... 813-448-7231. Yes...I have no idea why I have it either! I guess I was just thinking about the warm weather in Florida when I signed up for it. At least it's free! -Chris Posted at 11:01 PM Monday, November 20, 2006 Just A Chris Update... I haven't updated this thing in quite a while, and I thought I would finally do another update. This semester at school is almost over, which is nice, but I have quite a bit to do. I have a couple of projects that I have to get done and a few other things. I'm also working on a couple of website, which I'm almost done with. I'm still working at Target, which is okay, but Christmas is quiclky approching and with the holiday, the store traffic increases. I'm usually in electronics, but last night I was in toys and that was a disaster. When I was zoning (which means to straighten up the shelves and pull everything forward so it looks nice) I gathered about two full carts of stuff that didn't go in the first three aisles that I was zoning. It was so messy that I never did get all of the toys section done, although I had help from two other people. I'm kind of getting tired of retail. It's not for me. I recently got a job in Peoria radio doing weekends on Mix 101.1 and taking care of the website. I'm on the air Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hopefully we should be streaming soon, so all of you who aren't in the area will be able to check me out. I also recently started running a few miles daily on a treadmill in my attempt to lose the 10 pounds that I have gained since I've moved to Peoria. I'll keep you updated on how that works out. Thanksgiving is this Thursday and I'll be going to my aunt's in Champaign for Thanksgiving dinner. I'm looking forward to that! It's always a good time. However, I'm not looking forward to working on the day after Thanksgiving, which is the busiest shopping day of the year. Last year at Target, we did about 9 times of the amount of sales that we do on a normal day. Anyways...I think that's about it for now. -Chris Posted at 2:22 PM Friday, September 29, 2006 Third Day / David Crowder Band Concert... As many of you know, I love Jesus a lot. I'm also a big fan of Christian music! Last night I went to go see Third Day and the David Crowder Band in concert. The concert was awesome...but more details in a moment. First, why don't I tell you what happened before the concert. When I originally bought the tickets, I had planned on going with my roommate, Ben. A couple weeks ago, Ben decided to sign up for a Final Cut Pro class in Minneapolis. Well, this class ended up being on the same night as the concert and the class was more important, so he had to go to that. I don't blame him. Unfortunately, that left me with an extra ticket. I have quite a bit of friends, but most of them aren't into Christian music. To make a long story short I asked my friend Jonathan to go with me and he said yes. I had planned to leave my apartment at 6:40 p.m., to pick up Jonathan and then head to the concert. I rushed out the door as I was excited to get there. I got to my car and reached in my pocket. No keys. I ran back up to my apartment and found that I had locked myself out of my apartment. I called maintenance at 6:44 p.m. and left a message and I called Jonathan and told him the situation. He decided to drive to my apartment while I was waiting. Well...he got here and we waited and waited and waited and finally it was about 7:25. Still no call back from the maintenance department. So I called back and pressed option number 2 this time instead of 3. A few minutes later I got a call back. The guy came, unlocked my apartment and we were off to the concert!! When we got to the concert, David Crowder had just started playing. We found our seats, which were pretty good, and started singing along as the words were on the backdrop behind the band. They played many songs and had a version of Hank Williams' "I Saw The Light", which was a lot of fun. After David Crowder was finished there was a short intermission and then Third Day was on. They played until around 10:30 or so. It was a great concert and I LOVE Christian concerts, because unlike other concerts, you see families (dads, moms, grandpas, grandmas, kids, teens, husbands and wives) gathering together to hear great music, but more importantly worship the Lord. It almost brought tears to my eyes watching the younger kids singing the lyrics to these worship songs word for word. I'm just happy that they were brought up in a Christian environment and I will do the same for my kids whenever that happens. (Not for quite a while!!) These concerts give you a warm feeling in your heart and I like that feeling. There was probably about 6,000 people in the Peoria Civic Center and I have never seen so much love in one place before. It's incredible! Anyways...I can't wait for the next concert!! -Chris Posted at 3:32 AM Saturday, September 9, 2006 Just another Entry... Another day is over...I had a pretty good day today. I woke up this afternoon (yes, afternoon!) and checked my e-mail and the Illinois Airwaves message board. Nothing on the e-mail, but I saw a post about 94.3 on the message board, so I clicked on it. As it turns out, 94.3 flipped formats today from Smooth Jazz to Oldies as "94.3 - The True Oldies Channel". I kinda like oldies once in a while, so I turned it on and it sounded pretty good. This is Scott Shannon's satellite format--and I'm not really in favor of radio off the bird--but I've heard this before and it seems to be a change for the good. Tonight I ended up hanging out with my roommate and another friend, Todd, downtown at Tomcat's. That's always a good time. I had a couple of beers and then I had a craving for wings (my weakness) so Ben and I left after a couple hours and went to Hooters. The wings were awesome and the girls are pretty awesome most of the time. There was this one Hooters girl attempting to do backflips and another was standing on a stool, hula-hooping and pouring a glass of beer all at the same time! What talent! Anyways...I think I'm going to do post some construction pictures of my church on their website and then I'm going to hit the sack. My roommate has this crazy idea of getting up at 5 a.m. and driving to Bloomington to get donuts from Krispy Kreme. I asked him why we had to go that early and he said because the hot light would be on. Well the hot light will be on later in the morning, so I don't see why we can't go then. -Chris Posted at 12:23 AM Friday, September 8, 2006 Rant #234...Myspace Layouts... Myspace.com is okay. I have a Myspace and it seems like 70% of the people in the world have one also. What drives me crazy though is people try to modify their backgrounds and add pictures and everything to their page and they have NO web design skills! If you don't know how to do it, don't!!! It drives me insane when I'm trying to read what you have on your page and I can't read it because the text is the same colour as the background and the page is made for a resolution that 98% of people don't have! Some of the Myspace profiles are fine, most look like junk! So please do me a favour...if you decide to change the background...read up on some web design skills first. By taking that step...it will make the internet a better place. Oh...by the way...check out my plain Myspace account...and add me as a friend if you want. -Chris Posted at 1:03 AM Rant #835...To All You Smokers Out There... I don't smoke. I think it's a disgusting and unnecessary habit that costs people thousands of dollars each year. I choose not to do it...but if you want to do it, go right ahead! I'm not going to try and stop you. But please, when you're driving down the road please don't throw your cigarette butts out the window!! I see that so often and it makes me VERY furious!! It's against the law in a lot of places and it could cost you more than a speeding ticket! A politician in Southern California even proposed a minimum of $3,400 for first time offenders and to $20,400 to anyone cited 3 or more times. I'd actually like that law. Anyways...all I'm asking is that if you smoke, use the ashtray that's provided for you in the car. If you're a teenager that's driving mom or dad's car and doesn't want to be caught...I don't know what to tell you. You probably shouldn't be doing it in the first place. -Chris Posted at 12:17 AM Thursday, September 7, 2006 Will Someone Fix My Sleep Schedule? So here it is... 3:35 a.m. and I'm still up! I always have the hardest problem getting into bed. This internet gets addicting sometimes. Someone needs to create a program that will lock you out of your computer after a certain set time. I'd try and do it, but I don't have time now. In the morning I have to get all my homework done. I still have tons and tons to update on RDSList.com...but that will have to wait. Since I'm up...why don't I tell you about my day. First off, I had Monical's Pizza with my friend Steve today for lunch. Monical's is awesome. I also went grocery shopping with my roommate, Ben, cashed in my change for an Amazon.com gift certificate at the Coinstar, (According to the receipt I had 1 dollar coin, 0 half-dollars, 20 quarters, 95 dimes, 74 nickels and 92 pennies for a grand total of $20.12) put the bird feeder back up and cleaned up around the house a bit. I feel like I accomplished quite a bit, but not nearly as much as I wanted to do...as I felt kinda out of it today. I think I'm finally starting to get tired. Maybe I'll lay down. I feel like laying on top of the sheets tonight. It's nice outside and I've got the windows open. Hopefully I won't be laying awake in bed for a couple more hours. I hate that. I feel like it's wasted time. -Chris Posted at 3:46 am Saturday, September 2, 2006 Hog Days... Posted at 12:00 PM Saturday, August 5, 2006 Hi...My name is Chris... Hi! I just got out of the shower all refreshed and I was thinking, why not start a blog on my website?! I purchased this domain a few months ago and wanted it to be a personal website, but I haven't done anything to the site yet, except put a crazy picture of me up. Well...let me tell you a bit about me. I'm 24-year-old student currently taking classes for a Web Technology Degree. I have worked at a group of radio stations since I was 16. I still enjoy working there on occassion and I love it, but I'll tell you one thing...there is NO money in small-market radio! That's why I've decided to get a degree in web design, which I'm also good at. I lived in Kewanee, Illinois all my life until last October, when I moved to Peoria. I'm loving Peoria! Kewanee is a nice small-town, but there isn't much to do in Kewanee. Peoria has quite a bit to do and I hope to live there for quite a while. Lets see...my parents, Joe & Sue, just celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary this week. I was talking to my roommate, Ben, and he said that his parents have been married for around 30 years. We both agreed that we are very grateful to have parents who love each other very much. I think that's about it for now. -Chris Posted at 4:56 PM |
